Smile Wide Together is a Full Member of the Coalfields Regeneration Trust North East region.
In 1999, The Coalfields Regeneration Trust was established in response to recommendations made by the government’s Coalfields Task Force. It was set up as an independent charity with a focus to support the communities and create opportunities for their people.
The CRT provides funding for local projects and practical help for those organisations delivering vital services, bringing communities together to plan for their future, inspiring young people through sport, or giving someone the help they need to secure a job or new skills.
A key part of their current strategy is to engage with key stakeholders, and lobby the UK Government for the coalfields to receive a multi-million pound boost over the next four years.
